Everyone knows Vermeer's Little Street and Milkmaid, now we present Vermeer's running shoe.

Mizuno and Rijksmuseum have partnered up to create the official shoe of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2023.Inspired by the most successful exhibition in the history of the Rijksmuseum, it has been decided that 2023 is the Year of Johannes Vermeer, the artist famous for his stillness, light and special colours. Mizuno and the Rijksmuseum have jointly chosen the Milkmaid as a source of inspiration for the new Wave Rider 27 Amsterdam running shoe.

Meanwhile, the MIZUNO WAVE technology provides both cushioning and stability, supported by the WAVE PLATE for forward propulsion and seamless weight transition.

The plant-based Wave Plate is crafted using Pebax Rnew®, demonstrating a commitment to eco-friendly materials.

In addition to its impressive performance, the Wave Rider 27 embraces sustainability. The upper body textile, upper body lining textile, and sockliner lining contain more than 90% recycled content.

The Wave Rider 27 Amsterdam comes in the signature colors of one of Vermeer's most famous works “the Milkmaid”. Not only do the blue and yellow pantone pigments refer to the painting, details of the iconic work have also been incorporated on the inside of the shoe. Mizuno has been the main sponsor of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon for 24 years, this year the Marathon will take place on October 15, 2023 in the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
