Mizuno Contender Rijksmuseum
Johannes Vermeer is one of the most celebrated painters of the Dutch Golden Age, known for his intimate domestic scenes with phenomenal depiction of light. For the Mizuno Contender Rijksmuseum, every effort was made to honor the essence of Vermeer's works.
The shoe boasts tranquil colours and is crafted from luxurious materials such as premium mesh and suede. Beautiful references to the blue fabric worn by "The Milkmaid" and the Delft blue tiles with cupids, as seen in the painting, adorn the shoe. The tongue bears an imprint of "The Milkmaid" herself, paying homage to the masterpiece.
The painting also finds its way onto the insoles, with each insole focusing on a significant idea behind the artwork. The left insole represents the slow-flowing milk, symbolizing the precision of the gesture as the only moving element in the painting. The right insole highlights the milkmaid and the splendid colours she wears.
