Nathan Johnston is a vision impaired runner, at the age of 9, he slowly began to lose his vision, by 10 he was legally blind. Running became an outlet for his frustration, putting his emotion on the pavement and meeting so many people along the way, fuelling his passion and keeping himself motivated. Kim Hyo-dong is a runner who wanders through the streets of Seoul Korea. Haunted by work and only focused on his achievements, he was on the verge of a burnout. One day, as he was feeling lethargic, he came across a crew running together in a group. He noticed how full of energy and close to each other they were. From that day on, he started running bit-by-bit and slowly started to run longer distances. Running then became his escape and has helped him overcome the pressure of modern life, stay motivated, and helped him stay patient. He can no longer go a day without running.
Running has taken a different meaning in every stage of Lai Yiting’s life. When he was little, he ran for his father’s health, as he got older, running became an outlet for him to relieve himself from stress and challenge his own limits. Now, Running has become an essential part of his life and even of his personality. Whenever he finishes a run, he feels a sense of accomplishment like no other, as he becomes the best version of himself.
For Phakin Khamwilaisak his physical health is a vital part of reaching his goals. To him running is the starting point towards building not only his physical health but also his mental health as it gives him a sense of belongingness and the strength to face the obstacles that he comes across in his day-to-day life. The more he runs, the more his goals come into sight.
With the goal of running till she is 80. Running has become a part of her daily life, and with it she has learned the importance of perseverance, and that no matter the situation, she should try to push through. Trying to do a little better each day, accumulates into significant achievements over time.
